World Cup Match Preview: Korea Republic vs. Algeria (Group H)

Match Date: 22 June 2014 (local time)

Venue: Porto Alegre

An inspiring stalemate against Russia inspires South Korea to strive for a better finish in the tournament. On the other hand, Algeria will try to keep their survival hopes alive after their disappointing loss to heavy favorite, Belgium.

What happened?

Korea Republic

The Taegeuk Warriors showed that they are no push-overs in the competition after upsetting Russia with an even steven finish.

Out of the squad’s many attempts, it was Lee Keun-ho, who delivered the country’s first goal in the tournament. Igor Akinfeev, Russia’s goal keeper has already prevented the ball from entering into the net. But it slipped through his hands, thus, allowing their opponent to score and take the lead.

Russia attempted to steal the show though. However, the best that it could come up during the said clash was a mere stalemate.

Algeria

Algeria struggled to destroy Belgium’s defence. Yet, it did not stop them from creating significant scoring opportunities. Sofiane Feghouli earned and converted a penalty, which put Algeria on the lead.

Unfortunately, the squad was unable to contain Belgium’s rally during the second half and therefore, lost the match.

Prediction

Taegeuk Warriors stand as the heavy favorite of World cup betting tips in the upcoming match. However, they cannot afford to be overconfident as Algeria is more determined to advance to the competition’s next stage.
