World Cup Match Preview: Argentina vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina

World Cup Match Preview: Argentina vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina

Match Date: 15 June 2014 (local time)

Venue: Rio De Janeiro

Argentina

Argentina does not need any introduction. It is one of the most powerful and strongest squads to grace the World Cup and an outright favorite of World Cup betting tips.

La Albiceleste is not just an experienced team. It also exhibits a superb depth in terms of its form and a group of scoring machines, which can explode anytime.

Leading the line is its team captain and certified football prodigy, Lionel Messi. Gonzalo Higuain of Napoli and Sergio Aguero of recently crowned Premier League champion, Manchester City are also prolific strikers that give Argentina the attacking force that they need. Carlos Tevez, who happened to be Juventus’ top scorer for the season is also one of the talismanic scorers that Argentina has. Unfortunately, Alejandro Sabella opted to leave him behind of the 30-man provisional squad.

Angel Di Maria, Pablo Zabaleta and the surprise inclusion, Martin Demichelis are also expected to strengthen the squad’s flanks.

But despite the popularity that Argentina enjoys, the said fame also serve as a double-edged sword as more often than not, La Albiceleste has been a victim of its own success.

Bosnia and Herzegovina

The 2014 FIFA World Cupmay be the Dragons’ first entry into the celebrated competition, but they are far from being a pushover. Through the years, its head honcho, Safet Susic built a squad, which could lay down the foundations of modern football in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Compared to Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the squad can only show-off 2 strikers, Edin Dzeko and Vedad Ibisevic. But these 2 are far from being ordinary. Both carved out their names in their respective clubs.
Dzeko is one of Manchester City’s revered strikers. Scoring a total of 16 points in a season that City has readily dominated, Dzeko’s contribution is invaluable to City’s success. The same thing holds true for Ibisevic, who earned 10 crucial points for Vfb Stuttgart.

And of course, one cannot simply ignore the presence of AS Roma’s Miralem Pjanic. Pjanic is described as one of the most talented players in the squad and the creative playmaking genius behind the Dragons’ success during the qualifiers.

Bosnia and Herzegovina may be at risk of losing to Argentina due to their inexperience. But this does not mean that they will easily wave the white flag. As a matter of fact, this World Cup green horn—this World Cup rookie elicits the possibility of causing an upset. If left unguarded, the squad can be the ultimate dark horse that the competition has ever seen.

Prediction: Argentina

Issuing an Asian handicap of 1, Argentina is valued to win at 1.71 against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
