WC Qualification (EUFA) Prediction: Macedonia vs. Wales

WC Qualification (EUFA) Prediction: Macedonia vs. Wales

Soccer - 2014 FIFA World Cup - Qualifier - Group A - Wales v Scotland - Cardiff City Stadium

Wales continue their FIFA World Cup 2014 qualifying campaign when they take on Macedonia on September 7 at the latter’s home court, Philip II Arena, in Skopje. The tournament will be held as part of the EUFA Group A, which is currently being dominated by Belgium. Wales rank at number four, while Macedonia are dangerously placed last (sixth).

Both Wales and Macedonia failed to win in their last World Cup qualification matches. Wales submitted to Croatia with a final score of 1-2; of which, the only goal they had was via penalty by Gareth Bale at 21 minutes. Macedonia, meanwhile, lost their match to Belgium 0-1. The tourney’s only goal was scored by Eden Hazard at 62 minutes.

Macedonia has to go through renaissance

Winning goals have so far been very snobbish against the Macedonia side. Their track record shows successive defeats from different competitions. Their match against Belgium, Sweden, and Norway posted throbbing setbacks that translated to scores of 1-0, 1-0, and 2-0, respectively. Čedomir Janevski’s men are clearly not in their wheelhouse to make solid victories. More invigorating tactics have to be established in order for them to remain in the tournament.

Wales might have the upper hand

They may have been unlucky to steal the winning goal in their recent match against Croatia 1-2, but Wales have a good arsenal to make a good comeback. Outlasting Scotland 2-1 and Austria 2-1 in their respective tournaments earlier this year is a feat worth noting. But the enemies are recharging with new fuels, so the Chris Coleman-led side must also take on contingency steps to veer them away from unwanted circumstances.

Macedonia seem to be having no room for pitch supremacy over Wales. The away side have more than 33 percent of winning chance over the home team, not to mention that Wales currently have Group A’s best scorer, Bale, so far.
