Netherlands’ “Slim” World Cup Possibilities

The said notion seemed to be supported by their head honcho, Louis van Gaal, who recently expressed that there around eight (8) teams, which have the better “chances” of winning the trophy.

Nevertheless, Van Gaal, who is also appointed as Manchester United’s new boss, emphasized that his statement was a sheer reflection of his realistic approach in the competition. He explained that winning the World Cup is one of his biggest dreams and this is also the reason behind his appointment as Netherland’s top brass.

The Oranjes are one of the heavy favorites of the upcoming competition. World Cup betting odds, which assume that it will emerge as one of the Group B’s top performers are pegged at a profitable value of 3.10.

Netherlands sport an impressive World Cup record, having won the runner-up spot thrice since 1934. Unfortunately, the squad has not won a single World Cup trophy yet. Their most recent attempt was against Spain during the 2010 competition, but it soon vanished into thin air after Andres Iniesta scored the winning goal.

Up in Brazil, the club will have to face its previous title rival during the group stage, which makes its World Cup dream a little harder to achieve.
