Malaria Fails To Halter Toure’s Inclusion In Ivory Coast’s Final Line-Up

Renowned Liverpool defender, Kolo Toure made it to the final cut of Ivory Coast’s 2014 World Cup contingent. This is despite acquiring Malaria prior to the most awaited event.

With a little less than a month before the biggest football tournament in town, Toure’s inclusion into the squad was unclear. A statement from the team doctor explained that Toure has indeed, contracted Malaria. It is believed that the player acquired the said disease during his visit at Abidjan prior to joining the whole squad in Dallas.

Malaria is a serious condition, which generates flu-like symptoms and convulsions to patients. Given the severity of its effects, it is not surprising why Toure’s World Cup participation was questioned.  Nevertheless, the Ivorian camp assured the public that Toure shall recover prior to the start of the World Cup.

Toure, however, was left out during the friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina. But he is expected to participate in the squad’s training next week.

Known as one of the best centre backs in the English Premier League, Toure will be playing with his little brother, Yaya Toure and veteran striker, Didier Drogba.

Ivory Coast currently occupies the 21st spot in FIFA’s ranking, which happened to be the highest among its other African counterparts.

Grouped with Colombia, Japan and Greece, it is a certified world cup bettingfavorite next to Colombia. It is valued at profitable odds of 4.50 in sports betting sites such as 12BET.

After Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ivory Coast is expected to go against El Salvador in a pre-World Cup friendly.
