Lukaku’s Sprained Ankle Not Serious

Lukaku’s Sprained Ankle Not Serious

Supporters of striker Romelu Lukaku can set aside all their worries and fears as medical reports confirmed that his “injury” is not that bad.

Lukaku was seen leaving the pitch during Belgium’s last pre-world cup friendly. A challenge from Tunisia’s Bilel Moshni saw the Everton poacher in agonizing pain. The said scenario therefore raised questions regarding his availability in the upcoming competition.

He was initially diagnosed with a sprained ankle. It was feared that it will force him to be sidelined for weeks and miss Belgium’s first matches. Nevertheless, the squad’s manager Marc Wilmots relayed that the injury is not that serious to prevent the player from participating. He added that instead of weeks, Lukaku will only need a couple of days to recover.

To help him achieve a speedy recovery, his condition is checked from time to time. This will also aid the squad in monitoring his improvements.

Tagged as the dark horse of the upcoming world cup matches, Belgium possesses a deep team form that can upset the big squads in the tournament. Nevertheless, this does not give the squad the right to belittle Lukaku’s sprained ankle. The group has already lost one of their reliable strikers, Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke due to a damaged Achilles tendon and obviously, they do not want to suffer the same problem.

Lukaku’s inclusion in Belgium’s final list is not surprising. He led his country to a massive victory against Luxembourg when he scored a hattrick. Likewise, he had a good spell at Everton in which he netted 16 goals in its 33 appearances.
