Los Catrachos, World Cup’s Silent Threat

Los Catrachos, World Cup’s Silent Threat

Securing their third World Cup berth, Honduras cannot be easily described as the competition’s minnows. Their impressive performance during the qualifiers shows that they are unwilling to throw the white towel immediately.

Led by Luis Fernando Suarez, the Los Catrachos finished on top of its group, which included Panama, Canada and Cuba. Although they were tied with Panama, the Honduran squad proved to be the better side after securing a better goal difference than their opponents.

However, apart from dominating their group, Honduras’ success was further catapulted when they overcame the heavy favorite, Mexico, thus, forcing the latter to engage in a 2-legged playoffs against New Zealand.
One of the key players to their success is the Dynamo midfielder, Boniek Garcia. He has been featured in all of Hondura’s qualifying matches and it is pretty impossible for him to miss the highly anticipated football event.

Also crucial in Honduras’ success is the striker Carlo Costly. Although his loyalty is often questioned due to his “club hopping” spree, the player is known to feature in the national squad.  To note, he is one of Honduras’ top scorers.

Costly’s impact was greatly felt during his absence as Spain and Chile kept them at bay. Yet, know that he is back, he is expected to feature in the said competition.
Despite Honduras’ lack of World Cup silverware, they continue to threaten the existence of squads, which plan to rest on rest on the comforts of their overconfidence and complacency.

In terms of World Cup football betting, a 1.07 odds for Honduras’ survival in the Group Stage proves to be of decent value.
