Inefficient Planning Disappoints Former Football Superstar, Ronaldo

Ronaldo, one of Brazil’s treasured football poachers, expressed his disappointment over the country’s disorganized World Cup preparation.

With less than two (2) weeks before the awaited competition, he (Ronaldo) disclosed that only a portion of the public’s expectations has been met. The striker also pointed out to the country’s “lack of serious planning,” which allegedly wasted the 7-year period that was given to them.

The country’s Supreme Court Chief Justice, Joaquim Barbosa, who elucidated that the party responsible for the said occasion was not ready to tackle such enormous event, also supported Ronaldo’s claims.

Amidst the party-like atmosphere, which surrounds world cup matches, the “lavish” and exuberant (preparations) made for the said event, have overshadowed the innate excitement embedded in one of football’s awaited tournaments. Protests and riots lined up the streets. Activists and concerned citizens demanded for an explanation of the alleged “overspending” of the Brazilian government for hosting such sporting spectacle, whilst the population suffers from the effects of economic slowdown.

According to reports, Brazil spent around $11.5B on building new stadiums and renovating and repairing the old ones, thus, making the event as the most expensive World Cup tournament ever held.

Ronaldo is not alone in his sentiment. Pele, who is also a certified football superstar of the country, has also “questioned” the country’s spending issues and priorities.

Nevertheless, despite the dilemmas that Brazil confronts, Ronaldo remains confident in his country’s chances of clinching the coveted World Cup trophy. He added that despite the pressing issues that they face, the country is still, capable of pulling off a great event.
