Officially named as Arena Pernambuco – Recife also known as Itaipava Arena Pernambuco, located in Western suburbs of the Recife Metropolitan Area, Brazil. The Arena Pernambuco is the final 2014 World Cup stadium to be handed over. It is also the smallest of the six World Cup stadiums, with a capacity of just 46,106. Despite this smaller capacity, the stadium boasts of two large HD television screens, a mixed seating section, a premium seating section, and 1,600 seats for VIP lounges.


Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff just inaugurated the Arena Pernambuco last May 20. Brazilian Minister of Sport Aldo Rebelo, Governor of Pernambuco Eduardo Campos, and the LOC CEO Ricardo Trade also graced the stadium’s opening.

The inauguration was capped off with a match between some of the construction workers. A test match for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2013 was also held on Thursday, May 23, between Nautico and Sporting CP. The latter game drew in a crowd of 26,803.
