Known to the football world as Mineirão, the Estadio Governador Magalhaes Pinto was inaugurated on December 5, 1965. It was the home stadium of two erstwhile national champions, Atletico Minero and Cruzeiro, and will host six 2014 FIFA World Cup matches, including one semi-final.
The Mineirão is the largest football stadium in Minas Gerais, and the second-largest in Brazil next to the Maracaña. Spectators can travel to the stadium via bus 64 (Estacao Venda Nova route) or bus 2004 (Bandeirantes route).
