FIFA World Cup 2014: Group C Preview

FIFA World Cup 2014: Group C Preview

Colombia were in a serious top-tier drought in the past three editions, but their berth in the FIFA World Cup 2014 assured them of a fifth appearance in the global arena. Their qualification came relatively easy, thanks to Radamel Falcao who is a force to be reckoned with—his performance in the French Ligue 1 would be a good reference. The AS Monaco forward also has an excellent and highly creative ally: James Rodriguez. Team top brass José Pékerman should feel confident that his men will be able to at least match their best-ever World Cup performance in national history (which was in 1990 when they reached the Round of 16).

A compelling attacking spirits is what Greece are scarce of. They are not the most thrilling squads among the countries who qualified for the Brazil finals, but they certainly know how to maximize limited resources. They conceded several times during the qualifications, although they may have only tolerated it in favor of a strong vehicle at the back.

Ivory Coast

Certainly among the most favored African teams for FIFA online betting, Ivory Coast can draw serious strengths from such superpowers as Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou, Wilfried Bony, and Yaya Toure. The awesome foursome have consistently been the continent’s standard bearers and are zealously believed by the entire region to be pivotal in bagging the first-ever title for Africa. However, even this pack of masterful players has some loopholes. The players have struggled to translate their intimidating façade into success at major tournaments, with their failure to win at least one Africa Cup of Nations particularly perplexing.

While they are technically gifted, Japan have some vulnerabilities in their defense. The Samurai Blue had a marvelous run in the qualifications which proves Alberto Zaccheroni’s ability to turn them into a really strong squad. However, the three defeats they incurred at the Confederations Cup last summer leaves a question about their top-level credentials.
