FIFA Group H Qualifier Results

England has more reasons to celebrate as they clinched the coveted automatic qualification spot while Ukraine, still, has another chance to reach Brazil as they move on to the playoffs.

 

England

A victory in Wembley sealed England’s automatic World Cup qualification while Poland has to wait for another 4 years to enter the prestigious competition.

 

Roy Hodgson’s mission has more reasons to celebrate after leading England to the most awaited competition. Going against Poland was never an easy feat. With the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Jakub Błaszczykowski, the Polish squad is definitely, a force to reckon with. Moreover, Ukraine’s impending threat to steal the automatic qualification added more pressure to the squad. The team cannot afford to lose, not even a draw.

 

Nevertheless, this did not prevent England from snatching the victory. Pitch heroes such as Wayne Rooney and team captain, Steven Gerrard fired the winning goals that will send the rest of the squad to Brazil.

 

Ukraine

With England already qualified, Ukraine has to settle for the playoff berth. Nevertheless, their past performance has been very impressive, especially the last 2 matches.

 

They scored against an equally aggressive Poland and snatched a 1-0 victory in their favor. Against San Marino, the squad scored 8 goals to strengthen their grip for the playoffs. Ukraine aims to have a repeat of their 2006 feat where they reached the quarterfinals.

 

Montenegro, Poland, Moldova and San Marino

Montenegro, Poland, Moldova and San Marino are mathematically eliminated in the competition. But then again, their qualifying experience adds more depth into their squad.
