FIFA 2014 World Cup Rundown: Group C

FIFA 2014 World Cup Rundown: Group C

With Colombia and Ivory Coast showing strong and impressive performances, there is a strong possibility for the two (2) to advance in the Round of 16.

Recap

Despite  dropping Radamel Falcao in the final list, Colombia was never short of scoring machines that could help the group achieve a strong finish. The team kept a clean sheet against a promising Greek squad. Pablo Armero, Teofilo Gutierrez and James Rodriguez were pivotal to their recent victory and will most likely feature again in their upcoming matches.

Greece was spectacular in keeping the ball to their side. They dominated the possession, but had a difficult time converting.

Meanwhile, Ivory Coast and Japan also displayed an exciting show on the pitch. Japan took the lead, but Didier Drogba’s entry unleashed the beast inside every member of the squad.

The scene-stealer

The Los Cafeteros definitely stood out in the group. Falcao’s loss was expected to tear down Colombia’s attacking department, but instead, it was the opposite that took place.

Likewise, Keisuke Honda’s goal during the clash against Ivory Coast is worthy of recognition. It set Japan’s momentum, which, unfortunately, was not sustained.

The weakest link

A 3-0 loss is a major blow to the Greek squad. Although known for playing defensively, still, the need to score should be included in their priority list.

Which teams will advance?

World cup betting tips’ heavy favorites, Colombia and Ivory Coast will most likely make it to Round of 16. Japan, however, shows signs that they can pull off a shocking victory.
