Ayew, Ghana’s Ticking Time Bomb

Ayew, Ghana’s Ticking Time Bomb

Jordan Ayew’s hat trick against South Korea may serve as a warning that the Black Stars are one of the strongest forces to reckon with in the upcoming World Cup.

Ayew triggered the squad’s scoring streak when he netted a goal on the 11th and 53rd. However, dissatisfied with 2 goals, Ayew made another shot on the 89th that sealed South Korea’s coffin. Indeed, it was a big win. The massive victory was not only brought by the fact that they have easily scored 4 points, but also kept a clean sheet against their opponent.

When asked about his reaction, Ayew explained that he was “not looking” at the scoreline. He stressed that he is giving more importance on how he can be of service to the team.

Due to his impressive performance, Ayew is now described as Ghana’s secret weapon—a ticking bomb waiting to explode and feature in their upcoming world cup matches. Sulley Muntari, a renowned midfielder of the squad even described Ayew as the “revelation” of the biggest footballing tournament.

Ghana belongs to a difficult group where it needs to go against football powerhouses such as Portugal and Germany. Also included in the group is USA. Should they win over USA in the tournament, they will be eliminating them for the 3rd time.

The Black Stars first entered the World Cup in 2006. They qualified again in 2010 and made it to the quarterfinal. They could have made it to the semis if not for the infamous Luis Suarez handball, which resulted to Ghana taking the penalty and missing it.
