Currently, Belgium and South Korea are position on the opposite poles of the group table. The former sit comfortably atop the rankings with six points, while South Korea are marooned in the bottom with just one point earned from a draw in their curtain raiser.

South Korea

Although they left the pitch with two goals under their belt, South Korea failed to turn their earlier upsets around with a disheartening 2-4 loss to Algeria. The side entered into the first half with three goals conceded, providing their rivals a three-goal advantage through Halliche, Slimani, and Djabou. In the second half, however, South Korea netted twice. But the efforts proved useless as Algeria again scored a fourth goal to deny the Asian warriors of a shot in the Round of 16. They dominated the possession but felt lacking in adequate attacking power to outperform their African opponents.

One of the tournament’s most consistent sides, Belgium could remain a threat to other contenders especially now that they have already secured their berth in the knockout stage with two successive wins they obtained from Algeria and Russia. The latter match they engaged in also produced a new record for the national team. Substitute Divock Origi, who scored the only goal in the tourney, became Belgium’s youngest ever World Cup goals scorer at age 19. In addition, the team could embark on a magnificent World Cup journey with a good fair play record—so far—in the competition.

World Cup betting tip: Belgium will seal their first three World Cup matches with a stunning victory over South Korea.
