Uruguay vs. Jordan Preview (World Cup Qualifier, 2nd Leg): 7 Players From Jordan Refuse To Play, Uruguay’s World Cup Berth, Secured

As 7 of Jordan’s players will not participate in the 2nd leg of the playoffs, Uruguay is just waiting for the formality to seal their World Cup Berth.

Match Date: 20 November 2013 (local time)

Venue: Montevideo

Team Form

Jordan

More problems await Jordan as 7 of its key players refuse to play in the 2nd leg of the intercontinental playoff, several days before the much awaited event.

Spearheaded by Amer Shafee, who initially stated that “he is not ready to play,” six other members of the group decided to follow Shafee’s footsteps and also asked to be excused for the match. Shafee was unable to participate in the first leg of the qualifiers due to a suspension. Other members of the group who refused to join are Amer Deeb, Hassan Abdel Fattah, Anas Bani Yaseen, Ibrahim Al Zawahra, Odai Al Saify and Saeed Morjan.

According to sources, Hossam Hassan has already accepted the players’ decisions and granted their request.

Jordan went through a grueling battle against Uzbekistan to clinch a spot in the playoffs. The former won via aggregate scoring. Against Uruguay, the squad needs to secure at least 5 goals to book a ticket to Brazil.

Uruguay

La Celeste are simply waiting for the formalities to seal their World Cup berth next year. They dominated the first leg of the intercontinental playoff and they have the full advantage when they meet Jordan in Montevido soon.

Uruguay functioned like a scoring machine against Jordan. They ended the match with 5 goals to nil, courtesy of Maximiliano Pereira, Cristian Stuani, Nicolas Lodeiro, Crtisian Rodriguez and Edinson Cavani.
With the refusal of Jordan’s 7 players, it is just a matter of days before La Celeste formalize their travel to Brazil soon.

World Cup betting tip: Jordan 1-4 Uruguay

Expect a high scoring match, with goals coming from Uruguay. Jordan will play, but mainly for honor and pride’s sake.
