U17 Austria vs. Iran: Iran Goes For Their 1st Victory

U17 Austria vs. Iran: Iran Goes For Their 1st Victory

Hungry for a win, Iran will put an end to their penchant for draws.

Match Date: 25 October 2013 (local time)

Venue: Al Ain City

Team Form

After taking an early lead, Austria had to struggle against Canada and settle for a draw. This was how the Austrian squad fared in their debut match.

Sascha Horvath sparked the Austrian hope when he scored the squad’s first goal. Canada had to wait for quite some time before they can have their own dose of goals in the tournament. However, several minutes after the second half, Canada’s Jordan Hamilton scored their first goal on the 53rd . Another goal courtesy of Elias Roubos followed on the 58th. A sudden reversal of roles, Austria found themselves rallying for their next shot and avoiding defeat. Fortunately, Nikola Zivotic netted a shot on the 61st to force a stalemate between the two.

A victory remained elusive for the Austrians. Against Argentina, the squad took yet another early lead courtesy of Zivotic. However, the Argentinians are quick to reply. Two (2) goals were immediately thrown to Austria and before they knew it, they were struggling to score an equalizer. The equalizer came nonetheless. Tobias Pellegrini rose to the challenge and secured a stalemate on the 79th.  Unfortunately, Argentina’s Leonardo Suarez shot a stunning goal on the 88th, which dampened Austria hopes for a sweet victory.

Like Austria, Iran is also hungry for a win. The squad has never won its last 2 matches and has to settle for a draw.

Against Argentina, the latter’s Sebastian Driussi scored the equalizer on the 15th  and erased the early lead that birthday boy, Mostafa Hashemi scored on the match’s 1st minute.

Iran experienced the same fate when they went against Canada. Amirhossein Karimi’s 9th minute goal did not last. Several minutes after the half time, Jordan Hamilton scored the match’s last score, not leaving an opportunity for Iran to nail another goal.

World Cup Betting Tip: Austria 1-2 Iran

Iran’s better form gives them the overt advantage over Austria. But they must learn how to protect their lead. The squad tends to score early, only to be left out during the last minutes of the match.
