Prandelli Extends Stay, Builds A Training Camp For Italy

Amidst speculations of leaving the national squad, Cesar Prandelli agreed to extend his stay as the Gli Azurri’s head honcho until 2018.
Prandelli’s contract with the Italian squad was about to end this summer and stories have it that the tactician would return to club management. However, contrary to what have been spreading across the papers, Prandelli decided to take charge for the next four (4) years.

Prandelli’s decision  barely came as a surprise. Prior to his contract extension, he is said to prepare a “training camp” this March.  Such project is meant to further recognize and strengthen the potential of the Italian squad.

The above-mentioned training camp is expected to last for two (2) days where current members of the national squad and other hopefuls, with emphasis on the younger players, will converge. Under this approach, Prandelli looks forward to building Italy’s future and present squad.

Such will be highly beneficial in terms of picking a solid team, while having an equally reliable pool of replacement during the highly anticipated 2014 World Cup competition.

The training is set to take place on March 10-11.

Having won the World Cup for four (4) times, it is not surprising to see Italy as one of the top favorites to win in the competition. World Cup odds with an outright value of 28, manifests a lucrative amount.

Italy came as the victorious side in their group during the World Cup qualifiers. They finished with twenty-two (22) points and were able to secure a 6-point margin against the runner-up, Denmark.

The Gli Azzurris shall meet Luxembourg on June 4 for their last friendly prior to the competition.
