Nigeria vs. Ethiopia Preview : Injured Nigeria, Still Strong Despite Ethiopia’s Upset Threat

Two of Nigeria’s key players succumbed to an untimely injury. But despite such challenge, the Super Eagles are eager to steal the spotlight from Ethiopia, which is determined to make one of the most disappointing upsets in the qualifying round.

Venue: Calabar

Team Form

Nigeria

Stellar striker, Emmanuel Emenike expressed that playing in his own ground translates to experiencing a more difficult battle.
Despite gaining the lead against Ethiopia, Emenike stated that the 2nd leg of the qualifier meant that  more has to be expected from their opponent and that the lead does not give them the privilege to be complacent not until they have finally booked their World Cup berth to Brazil.

But other than Ethiopia’s surprise threat of which Emenike expects, injury issue is another area of concern that the club confronts.
Nosa Igiebor for one, shall not partake in the qualifiers due to an aggravated groin injury. Similarly, Uche Nwofor was dropped from the competition because of an ankle mishap. Bright Dike is said to replace Nwofor in the tournament.

Ethiopia

After a disappointing loss in the first leg, Ethiopia is determined to make an “upset” in a make or break match against Nigeria.
With a little more than 3 days before the second leg of the qualifiers, Ethiopia’s Telda Dagnechaw confirmed their early arrival in Calabar. Other than preparing some fresh legs, such will also give the squad the opportunity to adjust to a different weather and terrain.

Meanwhile, Sewnet Bishaw shared that the squad is in an “upbeat mood” and has perfectly adjusted in the training program.
Ethiopia trails behind Nigeria after the latter made a late comeback in their previous encounter.

World Cup betting tip: Nigeria 2-1 Ethiopia

Expect an action-packed encounter between the two squads as they fight tooth and nail in this battle. Ethiopia is keen on making an upset, but it is less likely that Nigeria will let go of their chance to enter the prestigious tournament.
