Match Preview: Senegal vs. Uganda

Match Preview: Senegal vs. Uganda

Match Date: 07 September 2013 (local time)

Venue: Marrakesh

Senegal is  determined to make a historic come back into the World Cup tournament. They are looking forward to their 2nd appearance since they made it to the quarter-finals last 2002. However, Uganda refuses to wave the white flag as it also anticipates its first ever World Cup feat.

Senegal

The Lions of Teranga shall not waste a single goal to ensure their second World Cup appearance this 2014.
After reaching the quarter-finals in 2002, Senegal struggled to have a repeat of their historic feat. They had a chance in 2006 and 2010, but their efforts remained futile. Nevertheless, they are looking forward to a brighter future as they sit comfortably on the top spot of Group J of Africa’s World Cup qualifiers.

Uganda

The controversies confronted by Uganda barely affect the squad’s team spirit. Like Senegal, the Cranes are also eyeing to etch their name in football’s history.
Since their entry into the tournament, Uganda has always faltered to survive the qualifying matches. Yet, now that they are in a better form, the club shall not forego the opportunity to book a ticket to Brazil.

The scenario

Senegal and Uganda are off to a down the wire battle. Senegal may be holding the top seat of the group. However, they are just a point away from Uganda. The Teranga Lions  have 9, while the Cranes have 8.

Their upcoming encounter shall decide which of the two teams are qualified to enter the Maracana.

World Cup betting tip: Senegal makes its 2nd World Cup appearance

Senegal stands as the heavy favorite of the match. Compared to Uganda, the former has never lost in its last 5 qualifying matches. It won twice and secured a draw in three of its other encounters.

Uganda, on the other hand, has won twice, lost twice and drew once.
Despite its edge, Senegal should try to keep Uganda away from the goal area. Other than stealing the spotlight, a high conversion rate can improved the team’s goal difference.

Although Senegal has higher winning possibilities, expect the match to be a nerve-wrecking one.
