FIFA U-17 Match Preview: Group B World Cup Betting Tips

A pedigree of world-class players and achievers in the U-17 tournament are about to clash in a battle that will fulfill their long-term dreams, heal their previous disappointments and etch their names into history.

Uruguay took some time before it sealed its reputation of being a U-17 contender. It began in 1991 when they reached the group stage, but it took them 8 long years before they made it in the quarterfinals in 1999. Their strongest finish however, was in 2011 when they ended up as runners-up of the competition. This year, the squad gained more confidence as their experience made them ripe for the most-coveted silverware. Moreover, with the appearance of Kevin Méndez, who has been compared to Lionel Messi and Carlos Tévez, expect a lot of action from the club.

New Zealand

The Young All Whites feel the pressure of the upcoming U-17 competition. Since 2007, they have been a familiar face in the tournament. The only thing missing is a trophy.

Recently, Darren Brazely has already announced the tournament’s participants. However, Brazely cannot help but express his disappointment over the injury of Elijah Neblett, who will be missing the said event. Nevertheless, this barely affected the squad’s winning spirit, as they are confident that they have trained longer than its upcoming opponents have.

Côte d’Ivoire

Less than 2 weeks before the competition, Ivory Coast constructed a training camp in Marbella. The said move is aimed to enhance the club’s strength and endurance.

As part of Ibrahim Kamara’s approach, the Little Elephants are set for friendlies against local clubs and with other countries such as Uzbekistan, Paraguay and United Arab Emirates.

It has been years since Côte d’Ivoire made a loud buzz in the competition. In 1987, the squad made it to the semi-finals. Although they bowed down to USSR, the club was able to clinch the 3rd spot from Italy.

Determined to replicate what their seniors did, Italy’s U-17 squad is committed to clinching the competition’s silverware. They are already a 4-time champion in the senior division, but it seemed like the trophy has been very elusive to their young players.

So far, their best finish was in 1987 where they finish 4th.
