FIFA Club World Cup Finals: Bayern Munich vs. Raja Casablanca

FIFA Club World Cup Finals: Bayern Munich vs. Raja Casablanca

Match Date: 21 December 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Stade de Marrakech, Marrakesh

Bayern Munich

Cruising into the final was neither easy nor difficult for Bayern Munich. They are indeed a very strong pack, but they still needed to exert extra effort to secure their berth in the competition’s highest round. Their thrashing of Chinese Guangzhou Evergrande came off a little easy, despite the fact that the AFC champions had Marcello Lippi at the helm. The match was initially touted to be a tight one, but the German club did more than what was expected. They unleashed excellent groundwork, dominating possession in the midfield and scoring virtually all the goals netted in the fixture.

Bayern Munich were not necessarily clinical in their performance, seen more evidently in their failure to convert several clear-cut opportunities. However, most of their intended strategies materialized. Thanks to outstanding teamwork, and phenomenal performances from individual players like Mario Gotze (who helped the team manage a path through the defensive barrier put up by their opponents), Der FCB are now on their way to achieving their very first FIFA Club World Cup title (which could potentially become their fifth major title this year).

Raja Casablanca

In what turned out to be a surprise encounter, Raja Casablanca slammed Atletico Mineiro to steal the Brazilian club’s chance in the finals. They are the second African squad to reach the competition’s ultimate round, which was first achieved by TP Mazembe in 2010.

Raja secured the lead early in the second period when Mouhssine Iajour fired a low shot past Victor. Brazil star Ronaldinho, however, delivered a free-kick in off the post to cancel out the scoring. Raja gained back the lead in the 83rd minute when Rever was adjudged to have tripped Iajour. Mohaine Moutaouali bagged for Casablanca the controversial penalty in the 83rd-minute and Vivien Mabide wrapped it up in the stoppage time with a breakaway goal.

World Cup betting tip: Thrashing Atletico Mineiro was truly a shocker, but Raja Casablanca are no match compared to the Germans. In this last and final stage of the FIFA Club World Cup, expect Bayern Munich lifting the winners’ trophy.
